Counselling in Eastbourne by Scott Doane (MBACP)

    about me

My personal history has held many twists and turns, and this rich experience of life feeds my approach.

I am a father of 4 children – gorgeous beings that have come through two separate relationships. I’ve known both the joy and grief that comes with that story.

In my professional life, I have worked in investment banking and telecoms, before choosing to go my own way. Since then I have set up and run various businesses in my entrepreneurial career. I have known some great successes and a lot of struggle too.

In life we all experience challenges. I suffered bullying at school, went through periods of depression and anxiety in later life, had panic attacks, and walked through “hell” in relationship breakdowns.

I have found my way through all of this and more, which is of course what led me into counselling in the first place – counselling helped me when I needed it most, and this is what inspired me to retrain as a counsellor in 2019.

My hope now is to give back some of the good support that I have received myself over the years, through the many great individuals and groups that I have worked with.

I have experience working with those who struggle with Anxiety, Depression, and Suicidal thoughts. I also have experience working with those who are facing big or potentially big changes in their lives – through retirement, career changes, health issues and relationship challenges.

In couple counselling, I provide a safe space in which we can work at the emotional level, to bring strength back to the relationship. I believe that having security in our relationship is fundamental in flourishing as individuals. This is true for all the many different forms of relationship that exists, and I am open to all varieties of relating, without prejudice.
